Verizon Wireless once offered many varied contract based plans, including the "MORE Everything" plan and the "Nationwide" plan. Now the carrier has simplified things, organizing its options according to the amount of shareable data, called The Verizon Plan. Unlimited texting and minutes are included in an affordable $20 monthly charge per phone, so the bulk of your phone bill will come from the size of monthly data you choose. With the tagline 'Not just Unlimited, Verizon Unlimited,' the company is trying to match its competitors on bandwidth amounts and beat them on coverage. 8GB sounds like a bit of overkill for one person, but if you're a heavy streamer, that data will go faster than you think. If you like to stream Spotify when out and about, on top of web browsing, Facebook using with heavy image uploads, this is a good plan but remember that the biggest consumer of data is video. So if you watch a lot of YouTube or Netflix when not connected to Wi-Fi you still might need more. That's when to opt for the new unlimited plan for just $10 more.

Verizon Wireless plan: Unlimited | Unlimited data | Unlimited calls and texts | $80/Month

Verizon has brought back unlimited data, with a few restrictions, and it replaces the X-Large and XXL packages you've seen on this page before. If you're either a very heavy data user, streaming a lot of music and video as well as updating apps on the go, or you're likely shopping for a family plan to add multiple lines on, this one is for you. There are restrictions if you're among the highest bandwidth hoggers, but for most people, this shouldn't be an issue. Best of all, technically the prices go down when you add lines: it's just $70 per line for two lines, $54 per line for three lines and just $45 for four lines on one plan.

If you're not looking for the traditional single or shared data plan, Verizon Wireless also offers competitive prepaid plans. For those wishing for a "no strings attached" type of plan, this could be just the type of plan you're looking for. There's no annual contract to sign up to, no activation fee, no credit checks to pass and free next day shipping on everything. Goodbye contracts, hello more expensive phones

Following in the footsteps of a carrier like T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless eliminated the two year contract in favor of their more straightforward current plan pricing initiative.

Unfortunately, the extinction of biennial contracts meant saying goodbye to sizeable price breaks on handsets.
