Kingston’s new 2TB USB stick can store days of 4K video

You might feel high and mighty with your 128GB flash drive, but the latest from Kingston proves that it might be time for an upgrade.

At CES 2017, the company announced the DataTraveler Ultimate Generation Terabyte, a flash drive that packs an insane 2TB of storage inside of a fresh, streamlined design.

What can you do with 2TB of storage? You can store up to 256,000 images at 24MP quality, or over 70 hours of 4K video files. Plugging this into an Xbox One means that you won't run out of storage for a long time.

But, the better question really is, what can't you do with 2TB? With such massive amounts of storage coming in tiny form factors, it's become easier to carry along your digital life wherever you go. If anything, this flash drive makes the external drives that require power downright archaic.

No pricing or availability details have been released, but we're looking forward to checking out this mini, but mighty flash drive on the CES 2017 showfloor. But, given that Kingston's 512GB HyperX flash drive runs for about $300, you'd better be ready to fork over the big bucks.

Want to ride a smart bike? LeEco has two new cycles for you to try

CES 2017 promises to show us the future of tech, and naturally devices that get us from Point A to Point B are part of the equation.

But smart cars aren't the only form of transportation innovation we're in for at CES, at least not on LeEco's watch. The Chinese firm has unveiled two new smart bikes at the biggest gadget show on Earth, bipedal machines that will deliver you to your destination in style.

The first cycle is the LeEco Smart Road Bike, which features a frame, fork, seat post, handlebar and wheels made of high-strength Toray T700 carbon fiber. It's light at only 18.5 pounds, and sports an 11-speed one-by drivetrain, along with other elements such as a brake set with dual-pivot tech.

For more rugged excursions, there's the LeEco Smart Mountain Bike, which utilizes the same carbon fiber in its frame and handlebar. This cycle weighs 26.9 pounds and carries a 27.5-inch/650b diameter wheelset. Other nifty features include an 11-speed one-by drivetrain with single chain ring crankset and a hydraulic brake set to keep your ride smooth.

LeEco Smart Mountain Bike

Intelligent design

Of course, these bikes wouldn't be "smart" if there wasn't some technology involved.

Both feature a 4-inch touchscreen to display LeEco's Android 6.0-backed BikeOS. The screens run on a Snapdragon 410 processor, and a 6,000mAh battery powers the display along.

BikeOS allows for turn-by-turn navigation using HERE Maps, on and offline music playback, walkie-talkie correspondence with nearby LeEco smart bikes, and keeping tabs on ride stats.

There's a host of ways to track your health and performance, including compatibility with third-party ANT+ heart rate and power sensors. The bikes are also bedecked with safety features, including automatic on-board lighting and a security alarm. Should your alarm be tripped by, say, a thief, you'll be notified and your bike's location will be tracked via a mobile app.

We still don't know pricing for the LeEco Smart Road Bike or Smart Mountain Bike, but both will be available in the US starting in Q2 2017.

LeEco talked up a Super Bike at its US launch event in October, though that bike isn't destined for the States. In just a few months, riders here will get to experience what LeEco smart bikes are all about.

Forget a streaming stick: These 4K TVs come with Amazon Fire TV inside

Good news: You won't have to buy that Amazon Fire TV you've had your eye on – it will soon come built right into your TV with Alexa in toe.

Seiki, Westinghouse and Element announced today at CES 2017 that they will each offer a range of TVs for 2017 that will, among other features, include Fire TV OS.

The TVs will not only have access to Alexa via a microphone-equipped remote but, more importantly, will have access to the over 7,000 apps and games available on the Amazon Fire TV Store – a huge boon considering that most of these Smart TVs usually include, at max, a few dozen apps.

So how will you know which TVs come with Alexa and which ones don't? All TVs that feature Fire TV OS will be called "4K Ultra HD Smart TVs – Amazon Fire TV Edition". Simple enough.

The screens in the series will also feature a built-in channel guide that will dredge up new content for you to watch or, if you want to use that new remote, use voice search to find new TV shows and movies to watch based on your favorite actors and actresses.

All TVs in the series will come in four sizes – 43, 50, 55 and 65-inches – and will offer 4K resolution for UHD streaming of, what else, Amazon Prime Instant Video. They'll also have 3 GB of built in RAM; 16 GB built-in storage; built-in Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, four HDMI 2.0 inputs supporting 60Hz 4K video and HDCP 2.2, Ethernet port, and two USB inputs include one supporting USB 3.0.

The Seiki, Westinghouse and Element Smart 4K Ultra HD – Amazon Fire TV Edition models will be available later this year on Amazon as well as other retailers, and pricing will be announced closer to launch.

Your work could pay you to exercise thanks to this new wearables program

Anyone who said 'they'll have to pay me to wear a smartwatch' may in fact get their wish, thanks to a new program announced at CES 2017 that will pay out millions to healthy employees.

You could earn up to $1,500 (about £1,220, AU$2,073) a year through your work thanks to an expanded exercise initiative from Qualcomm and UnitedHealthcare.

In addition to dolling out what amounts to millions of dollars in total, the chip maker and insurance provider are also hooking employees up with a free, custom-designed wearables to make it all happen.

Of course, the 'easy' money only starts flowing when you hit certain goals for the number of daily steps taken each day.

The cure for what's ailing wearables?

The adoption of wearables, including smartwatches and fitness trackers, has struggled in 2016, as sales and interest were generally down across the board.

We saw the launch of the non-surprise Apple Watch 2, the delay of Android Wear 2.0 and the desperate sale of Pebble to Fitbit. It wasn't a happy year for wrists, to say the least.

Even though there are several best fitness trackers and best smartwatches to chose from, it may just take paying people to discover the unique health benefits of wearing a little bit of their phone on their wrist.

We'll certainly see more surprise wearables at CES 2017, so stay tuned to TechRadar's week-long coverage of the Las Vegas convention.

Google Home and Hyundai team up to make your drive a little smarter

Google Assistant, the personal AI assistant found in Google Home, has learned a few new automotive-related tricks as we begin 2017.

No, it can't drive itself –yet– but, it can now communicate with any Hyundai vehicle that's equipped with Blue Link, the company's impressive proprietary infotainment setup.

Blue Link customers must first authenticate their accounts with the Google Home app, then a handful of new commands will be available to use from the comfort of your home.

The list of interactions isn't wildly imaginative, but impressive nonetheless, covering the essentials, like "OK Google, find me a good Chinese restaurant", or "OK Google, tell Blue Link to send that address to my Santa Fe".

Those who don't like stepping into a cold or hot car will be pleased to know that there's an interaction to start the car and set the temperature to your liking. Check out the full list of commands that will work between Google Home and Hyundai Blue Link right here.

Of course, security is ever important, so the Hyundai team implemented a safety measure to request your Blue Link PIN to ensure that only you can chat with your car.

More connected devices, including cars, are sure to be added to Google Home's arsenal soon enough, but this addition puts it above the likes of the Amazon Echo.

The Honor 6X could be your next perfect cheap phone

Honor's 5X was one of the best low price phones of 2016, and the newly announced Honor 6X is even better.

The new budget phone, which was revealed at CES 2017, features a full brushed metal unibody, a 5.5-inch Full HD display and a powerful chipset.

Under the hood there's 3GB of RAM, alongside a Huawei produced Kirin 655 chip to power the thing. It's the first time we've seen this system-on-a-chip used in a device, and it works well.

Honor also told TechRadar it may release a 4GB of RAM version of the phone in the future, but there was no official announcement at CES 2017 and there's no guarantee it will come to the UK, US or Australia.

The dual-camera experimentation of the Honor 8 is also on the Honor 6X, but this time it's just a 12MP and 2MP combo on the back.

On the front there's a powerful 8MP camera, so you'll be able to grab selfies that capture your true beauty with ease. Moving back to the rear of the phone there's also a fingerprint scanner, so you can keep the Honor 6X as secure as possible.

Storage and software

For storage, the Honor 6X comes with 32GB on board, but there's only just over 21GB when you take into account the software installed on the phone. If that's not enough for you, there's a microSD slot for cards of up to 128GB.

There's also a 3340mAh battery to keep the phone charged through the day.

The Honor 6X is running Android 6 software with the Emotion UI 4.1 over the top of it – but Honor has confirmed it will update the phone to Android 7 and Emotion UI 5 by the end of March 2017.

If you live in the UK you'll be able to buy the Honor 6X from January 4 on the official website, while in the US it's officially launching on January 10. In the UK it costs £229, while in the US it retails for $249.99.

Those in the US will be able to buy the 6X in flash sales every Tuesday on the Honor website between January 10 and January 31 for only $199 though.

Honor currently has no plans to bring the Honor 6X to Australia, but we'll be sure to update this story if we hear more.

We've already reviewed the Honor 6X, so if you plan on buying the phone we'd recommend you take a quick look at our full review now.
